ABOUT THIS OPPORTUNITY
This position is responsible for:
Cleans and maintains the buildings and grounds to ensure the neatness and cleanliness of the same daily. Performs routine repairs and maintenance of buildings and equipment. Performs minor plumbing, electrical, carpentry repair work, runs errands, and provides assistance.
Key Responsibilities:
- Performs routine building maintenance activities; performs minor plumbing repairs required by leaking faucets and clogged toilets; performs carpentry work required to repair dents and/or holes in walls and paints walls.
- Performs routine electrical repairs; replaces and adds receptacles; repairs light fixtures; performs other miscellaneous electrical repairs.
- Performs maintenance and repair of Salvation Army buildings and quarters. Makes minor repairs roofs, sidings, doors, and steps, etc.
- Paints inside and outside of all Salvation Army buildings.
- Assembles and moves office furniture including chairs, desks, tables, bulletin boards, etc.
- Drives a truck to pick up materials and repair items needed for maintenance work.
- Cleans and sanitizes bathrooms; cleans sinks and toilets, polishes mirrors, and replenishes supplies.
- Sweeps, vacuums, mops and waxes floors; sweeps sidewalks.
- Cleans windows, dusts and polishes furniture and fixtures.
- Cleans kitchen, activity room, kitchen appliances and/or dining area, and washes dishes.
- Collect trash from grounds and empties trash cans regularly.
Physical Requirements and Working Conditions:
Ability to meet attendance requirements. Ability to read, write, and communicate the English language effectively. Ability to exert the physical energy required to performing housekeeping and minor maintenance work. Ability to perform continuous walking, stooping, standing, and climbing. Limited amount of physical effort required associated with walking, standing, lifting and carrying objects (less than 50 lbs.) 10-40% of work time. Work is performed in a lodge/shelter/residential facility with some exposure to outdoor temperatures, dirt and dust, and/or disagreeable sights and odors. Work is usually performed in a normal office environment where there are little or no physical discomforts associated with changes in weather or discomforts associated with noise, dust, dirt, and the like.

WHAT WE ARE LOOKING FOR IN YOU
- No formal education or experience required.
- Six months experience performing general housekeeping duties, or
- Any equivalent combination of training and experience which provides the required knowledge, skills, and abilities.

- Valid Driver’s License
