What are the responsibilities and job description for the Building Maintenance Mechanic (3770) position at THE SALVATION ARMY?
Performs variety of skilled maintenance work for buildings and grounds including heating, ventilation, and air conditioning, plumbing, electrical, and carpentry work as well as routine maintenance and repairs.
Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:
Knowledge of the methods, materials, tool, and practices used in at least two of the building, electrical, or mechanical trades.
Knowledge of plumbing, electrical, construction, an air conditioning equipment.
Knowledge of the occupational hazards and safety precautions of the trades involved.
Skill in the care and use of tools and equipment and to make proper repairs or adjustments.
Ability to detect defects in equipment and to make proper repairs or adjustments.
Ability to follow instructions and work with little or no supervision.
Qualifications:Education and Experience:
Two years of course work from a technical or vocational school in construction, heating, ventilation, and air conditioning as well as plumbing and electronics, and three years’ experience performing maintenance and repair work for commercial building and grounds, or any equivalent combination of training and experience which provides the required knowledge, skills, and abilities.
Licenses and Certifications:
Valid State Driver's license; clean driving record
Physical Requirements:
Ability to meet attendance requirements.
Ability to read, write and communicate the English language.
Ability to perform Heavy lifting.
Ability to perform strenuous, heavy work involving the lifting and carrying of heavy objects.
Ability to perform continuous walking, stooping, standing and some climbing.
