About this opportunity:
This position is responsible for driving the box truck, keeping up with routine maintenance on the truck; maintaining the orderliness and cleanliness of the box truck and loading dock.
Key responsibilities:
- Drives in a Salvation Army truck on a scheduled route to pick-up donated items
- Navigates to destinations by reading a map and/or handwritten directions
- Lifts, Carries, and/or hauls donations into truck
- Packs items in truck on a manner that maximizes use of space, protects items from damage, and ensures safety
- Maintains good relationships with donors to promote a favorable image of the Salvation Army
- Delivers appliances and furniture purchased by customers
- Maintains all regularly scheduled maintenance on the truck
What we are looking for in you:
No formal education or experience required.
Must have a valid driver’s license and be able to pass a DOT physical.
Physical Requirements and Working Conditions:
Ability to operate a Box Truck
Ability to meet attendance requirements
Ability to communicate the English language
Work requires the ability to lift and carry and/or push/pull moderately heavy (25 - 50lbs.).materials, supplies, and equipment. Moderate mobility: duties are usually performed by combinations of sitting, standing, and walking on a frequent change basis
