Maintenance Worker - The Salvation Army (ARC Program)
Full-Time | Kansas City Area

Reports To: Property & Maintenance Supervisor
Make a difference while keeping our facilities running smoothly.
Join The Salvation Army Adult Rehabilitation Center (ARC) team and help maintain safe, functional, and welcoming spaces for our residents, shoppers, donors, and staff. This hands-on role supports multiple locations-including the ARC Center, warehouse, thrift stores, and administrative sites-while directly contributing to our mission of "Doing the Most Good."
What You'll Do:
You'll perform a variety of maintenance and repair tasks across multiple Salvation Army properties, including:
Facilities & Grounds Maintenance
- Perform general repairs involving basic plumbing, electrical, carpentry, painting, and HVAC support
- Maintain floors (buffing, cleaning, and general upkeep)
- Conduct groundskeeping, mowing, landscaping, and snow removal
- Assist with room setups and teardowns for operations and program needs (fixtures, displays, furniture, etc.)
General Support
- Assist with moving furniture, boxes, store fixtures, and donated materials
- Accompany vendors/contractors as needed
- Drive a Salvation Army vehicle to pick up supplies or deliver items
- Perform additional maintenance tasks as needed based on daily priorities
What We're Looking For:
Minimum Qualifications
- High school diploma or equivalent
- At least 1 year of maintenance experience
- Ability to safely use hand tools, power tools, lawn equipment, snow blowers, carpet cleaners, and buffers
- Basic electrical and painting skills
- Must be able to obtain/maintain a clear MVR and have a valid driver's license
Physical Requirements
This role requires regular physical activity, including:
- Standing, walking, lifting, carrying, bending, and kneeling
- Lifting up to 50 lbs regularly and up to 100 lbs occasionally
- Working in indoor and outdoor environments depending on the property
Travel
Daily or weekly travel between local Salvation Army properties is required using agency vehicles.
