Leads prepare and lead exciting activities like arts, sports, and educational games while ensuring a safe environment. They also help with communication to parents as needed, manage daily rosters, and take on leadership responsibilities. From coordinating activities to maintaining the camp’s appearance, Camp Leads are integral in making the camp run smoothly.
The hourly wage for Lead Counselors is $16.83 for a 1st year lead with additional pay for 2 year Lead Counselors.

The Summer Day Camp Counselor works directly with children and organizes, prepares, and leads general activities such as arts and crafts, sports, educational, and other age-appropriate activities. They are directly responsible for the safety and well-being of a small group of children aged 5 – 12 by ensuring appropriate behavior and that the group is in the proper location at all times.

Minimum Qualifications
The requirements listed below are representative of the minimal education, experience, knowledge, skills, and/or abilities required for this position.
Education: High school diploma or equivalent is desired. General knowledge of games and activities appropriate to the 5 – 12 year old age group.
Certifications: American Red Cross or equivalent 1st Aid / CPR / AED certifications are highly desired.
Experience: Previous work experience working with children in a day camp setting is preferred.
Skills: Conversational knowledge of Spanish is highly desired.
Ability to communicate / work with a diverse population.
Ability to build positive relationships with children and parents / guardians.
Ability to use sound judgment in challenging situations.
Willingness to accept responsibility for a small group of 5 – 12 year old children.
Ability to accept feedback and guidance in the performance of duties.
