The Gymnastics Coordinator plays a vital role in delivering high-quality gymnastics programming for youth of all ages. This position oversees daily operations of recreational classes, competitive teams, and camps while ensuring a safe, positive, and engaging environment. With a focus on strong leadership, excellent instruction, and youth development principles, the Coordinator supports staff, guides athletes, and helps create memorable experiences for families and participants alike.

 

This 25 hour a week position offers a generous benefits package that includes 10 days of vacation per year, 12 sick days per year (6 of which can be taken like vacation days), 12 paid holidays, 2 personal days, and the ability to earn an additional 2 days of PTO through our wellness program. The position pays $20-$22/hour based on experience.

SUMMARY/PRIMARY PURPOSE:

 

The Gymnastics Coordinator will plan and implement gymnastics programming as it relates to recreational classes, competitive teams, and camps in a safe, positive, educational and fun environment. The Gymnastics Coordinator will also take a leadership role with relevant program personnel and will, under the direction of the Fitness & Sports Manager, coordinate matters related to competition teams. The Coordinator will also foster the physical, emotional, and social growth of youth participants in line with youth development principles.

  • Responsible for daily operational functions of the gymnastics program including planning, organizing, scheduling, and implementing assigned classes.
  • Provide supervision, leadership, and guidance to part-time coaches and aides in the performance of their duties and responsibilities, including conducting performance evaluations and team meetings.
  • Assist with the recruitment, screening, hiring, and training of all Kroc Center gymnastics personnel.
  • Instruct and coach team and recreational gymnastics programs and activities as needed in a manner that fosters an inclusive and supportive atmosphere promoting self-esteem, discipline, and respect among participants, coaches, and parents.
  • Assist with securing and organizing meet schedule for competition teams as well as coordinating recitals and other special events, with attention to budgets and logistics.
  • Manage, inventory, maintain, clean, and order program equipment and supplies, following established purchasing procedures.
  • Assist with communication to program participant families through regular newsletters, and meet with parents as necessary regarding performance and behavior of participants.
  • Establish and maintain professionalism while supervising program participants, parents, and instructors during practice and meets.
  • Monitor attendance to ensure only registered participants are attending gymnastics programs and maintain accurate record keeping in Club Automation with class rosters.
  • Teach classes in a fun and safe manner to youth ages 18 months through 18 years, including observation to determine needs for individual or team improvement.
  • Directly oversee the work of any aides assigned to work in the program area at all times and ensure that minor support staff are never left unattended with program participants.

 

QUALIFICATIONS

MATERIALS AND EQUIPMENT: Uses a variety of gymnastics equipment including beams, bars, vault, mats, etc. Must be able to assist program participants with proper use of grips and tape as appropriate for programs.

 

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS REQUIRED:

 

EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE:

  • High School Diploma or equivalent preferred
  • 3 years of experience coaching or competing in gymnastics under USAG guidelines for levels 3-5with recreational gymnastics program experience including tumbling and/or cheer, with at least 1 year of experience in a coordinating or leadership role.

- OR –

  • Any equivalent combination of training and experience which provides the required knowledge, skills, and abilities.

 

LICENSES AND CERTIFICATIONS: American Red Cross First Aid, CPR and AED Certification and Gymnastics accreditation through USAG University or ability to obtain within 90 days of hire. Applicant must possess a valid Wisconsin Driver’s license with clearance to drive from The Salvation Army’s insurance carrier.

 

KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES:

  • Strong verbal and written communication skills.
  • Strong organizational and interpersonal skills.
  • Proficient in Microsoft programs
  • Friendly, positive attitude and strong work ethic.
  • Ability to work and relate well with diverse populations in age, ethnicity, and abilities including children, parents, and team members.
  • Strong knowledge of various gymnastics, tumbling, and/or cheerleading skills and corresponding safety and risk management techniques
  • Ability to interact with the general public in a calm, rational manner.
  • Ability to organize and supervise staff and participants with special attention to safety.
  • Ability to interpret and explain Green Bay Kroc Center policies and procedures.

While performing job duties, the employee is required to stand, walk, and actively physically engage with participants throughout the duration of the work shift; use hands to finger, handle, or feel objects, tools or controls; reach with hands and arms; climb stairs; balance; stoop, kneel, crouch or crawl; talk or hear; taste or smell. The employee must regularly support all or part of the weight of program participants during spotting and must occasionally lift and/or move up to 50 pounds. Working with other team members, the employee may occasionally move heavier equipment. Specific vision abilities required by the job include close vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception, and the ability to adjust focus.

This job is performed in a busy recreation setting where the noise level in the work environment is usually moderate to loud. The building is climate controlled and most work will be done at normal room temperature, however some work areas may be more humid or of variable temperature based on the activities taking place at the time.

 

This position will require performance of duties during hours commensurate with the hours of operation at the Kroc Center including some nights and weekends.

 

Occasional travel to team competitions at offsite locations may be required; during these competitions, the employee will be exposed to environmental conditions present at the site.
