The Root is a multi-location coworking brand built on the belief that work shouldn't suck, and neither should the spaces you do it in. Our newest location in Omaha's Builders District at 1501 Mike Fahey Street is a hub for entrepreneurs, creatives, and community builders. Hospitality is our superpower, and we bring that energy to every workspace, meeting room, and event we host.
The Role:
We're looking for a Day-Of Events Host to help us bring our event programming to life at The Root - Builders in downtown Omaha. You'll provide on-the-ground support for The Root’s public-facing events, making sure every event runs without a hitch. This role requires availability during evenings and weekends for event execution, with some daytime coordination work as needed.
Schedule & Availability:
As-Needed, On-Call Basis. A few hours per month, all evenings and/or weekends.
What You'll Do:
- Help coordinate logistics for events, private bookings, and community programming.
- Be on-site for event setup, execution, and breakdown—including evenings and weekends.
- Serve as one of the location's point of contact for event clients and vendors.
- Manage AV, room setup, catering coordination, and event flow.
- Work with our team to develop recurring event concepts that build community.
- Ensure the space is guest-ready and reflects The Root's hospitality standards.
- Answering questions and addressing concerns of guests in a charming, polite manner.
- Ensuring that the event space is clean prior to and after the event.
- Double-checking that all health safety measures are observed and that staffs are well-versed in emergency protocols.
- Creating a positive, relaxed atmosphere where guests can enjoy themselves.
What We're Looking For:
- 1–3 years of event coordination, hospitality, or venue management experience.
- Reliable after-hours and weekend availability—this is a must!
- Strong communication skills and a people-first attitude.
- Calm under pressure—you've handled a last-minute request with a smile.
- Detail-oriented and proactive; you catch things before they become problems.
- Familiarity with Omaha's business and events community is a plus.
Compensation & Details:
This is a contract (1099) position with flexible scheduling built around our event calendar. Compensation for this position is $25/hour. Hours will vary by month—busier seasons mean more events, more opportunities. We're looking for someone who can grow with us as the Omaha location scales its programming.
