LEAD ROOFING TECHNICIAN - COMMERCIAL RE-ROOF
Department: Operations
Reports To: Service Manager
FLSA Status: Non-Exempt (Hourly)
Location: Atlanta
Position Summary:
The Commercial Roofing Lead Technician is responsible for overseeing and executing the installation, maintenance, and repair of various commercial roofing systems. This individual will lead a team of roofing technician (s), ensuring projects are completed safely, on time, and to quality standards. This role requires extensive hands-on experience, leadership skills, and deep knowledge of commercial roofing materials and systems.
Key Responsibilities:
- Supervise and participate in the installation, repair, and maintenance of commercial roofing systems (TPO, EPDM, PVC, modified bitumen, metal, built-up, etc.)
- Lead, train, and mentor a roofing technician; ensure work is performed safely and efficiently
- Interpret project specifications, and manufacturer installation instructions
- Conduct daily safety meetings and ensure adherence to OSHA regulations and company safety protocols
- Inspect completed work to ensure quality and compliance with specifications
- Coordinate with project managers, suppliers, and other subcontractors as needed
- Maintain accurate documentation including job reports, timecards, and material usage
- Operate and maintain tools and equipment in safe working order
- Identify and troubleshoot roofing issues; propose effective solutions
Qualifications:
- Minimum 5 years of commercial roofing experience, including 2 years in a leadership role
- Proficient in multiple roofing systems (TPO, EPDM, PVC, etc.)
- Strong understanding of safety protocols and OSHA standards
- Ability to read and interpret construction documents
- Effective communication and leadership skills
- Valid driver’s license and reliable transportation
- Ability to pass pre-employment background check and drug screening
Physical Requirements:
- Ability to work outdoors in varying weather conditions
- Ability to lift 50 lbs, climb ladders, and work at heights for extended periods
- Manual dexterity and ability to use roofing tools and equipment safely
Preferred Qualifications:
- Manufacturer certifications (e.g., GAF, Carlisle, Firestone, Johns Manville)
- Bilingual (English/Spanish) is a plus
- OSHA 10 or 30-hour certification
