Postdoctoral Scholar | RNA Biology/Chromatin Biology | Nazim Lab | CWRU

The RNA Society
Indiana, PA Intern
POSTED ON 4/17/2026
AVAILABLE BEFORE 5/6/2026
Posted on: March 13, 2026

The laboratory of Dr. Mohammad Nazim in the Department of Biochemistry at Case Western Reserve University School of Medicine is seeking highly motivated postdoctoral researchers to investigate the regulation of post-transcriptional RNA processing and gene transcription in the chromatin. Specific projects include, but are not limited to, studying the mechanisms of pre-mRNA alternative splicing, the functional roles of alternative splice variants of chromatin regulators in cellular development, and how RNA splicing is disrupted in human diseases such as neurodevelopmental disorders and cancer. The Nazim Lab employs a variety of cell culture systems, mouse models, and molecular and genomic approaches to address key questions in RNA biology, chromatin regulation, and gene transcription, with a focus on mammalian neuronal development. We are seeking curious and dedicated researchers to join our highly collaborative and dynamic team. In addition to conducting research, postdoctoral fellows will have opportunities for career development, presentation of research at national and international conferences, mentoring students, and engaging in scientific outreach.

Responsibilities And Duties

  • The candidate will employ a combination of cell culture models, mouse models, and a range of molecular biology and biochemical assays to address questions at the intersection of RNA processing, chromatin regulation, and gene transcription. The lab aims to uncover how RNA splicing influences gene regulation in chromatin during cellular and tissue development, and how misregulation of these processes contributes to human diseases.
  • The successful candidate will independently plan and execute experiments to achieve research objectives and will have the opportunity to develop new and independent research directions that build upon the lab’s expertise in RNA and chromatin biology.
  • The position requires high scientific integrity, strong organizational skills for maintaining scientific records, respect for others, a collaborative mindset, and a commitment to learning. The successful candidate will present data in lab meetings, journal clubs, departmental seminars, and scientific conferences, and will contribute to manuscript preparation and the generation of preliminary data for grant proposals.

Minimum Qualifications

  • Ph.D., M.D., or M.D./Ph.D. degree in biochemistry, molecular biology, cell biology, or a related field
  • A strong background in molecular biology and/or molecular genetics, experience with in vitro and/or in vivo models, and proficiency in computational biology.
  • Published in internationally recognized peer-reviewed journals.
  • Excellent written and oral communication skills necessary.
  • Must be eligible to work in the United States.
