The Banquet Server at the River House at Odette’s is responsible for handling face-to-face contact with the banquet guests. They are directly responsible for serving all meal and beverage orders to their assigned section of the banquet guests. They are assisted by bussers and runners, but they are ultimately responsible for the service and cleaning of their assigned tables and sections. Nights, weekends, and holiday hours are required.
Duties/Responsibilities:
· Offer friendly and warm greetings to all restaurant and hotel guests.
· Promptly serve drink and food orders from their assigned tables or sections.
· Provide world-class guest service by ensuring all drink and food orders are efficiently served to the table and checking with the guests that their orders are correct; make any necessary corrections as quickly as possible.
· Handle all food in accordance with sanitary procedures and standards. Comply with all Federal, State, and Local laws concerning food handling and storing.
· Remove soiled plates, glassware, and silverware from assigned tables and sections as the guest finishes their drinks and meals.
· Perform daily and weekly cleaning assignments and maintain the work area in a clean and orderly fashion.
· Must be flexible and willing to work a varied schedule.
· Nights, weekends, and holiday hours required.
· Other duties as assigned.
The ideal candidate will possess the following Knowledge, Skills and Abilities
· Technical Skills: We require at least 1 year of experience providing world-class food service, table side service, addressing banquet event guest requests, food and beverage industry trends and fashions, and correctly completed assigned non-service orientated duties.
· Customer Service and Professionalism: Experience as or willingness to learn to be a role model and setting the standard for all staff to maintain high-quality and consistent customer service.
· Problem Solving, Quality Control, and Priority Assessment: Must evaluate current practices and processes; immediately recognize potential areas of conflict; and suggest ways to improve current business methods and services provided.
· Communication: Commitment to details both verbally and non-verbally and ability to encourage cooperative and consistent levels of communication with the back of house staff, front of house staff and management. Must understand instructions, read written company information and communicate with little or no additional direction.
· Interpersonal Relationships: Highly developed empathy skills and ability to adapt to different personalities of guests, staff and outside vendors without losing focus. Must possess high professional ethics and avoid extreme familiarity or conflicts with others.
· Conflict Management: Capacity to recognize problems when they arise and be able to resolve them appropriately by using good judgement, tact, and initiative according to company policy and procedure. Requires unbiased communication skills to handle all types of conflicts that will occur at all levels of supervision and the ability to negotiate effectively.
· Perform General Physical Activities: Ability to perform physical activities in a variety of environmental conditions that require moderate to maximum strength including climbing, lifting, balancing, walking, handling materials.
· Flexibility: Must be available to work overtime when needed, assist with the workload of others, and perform other duties as assigned.
