What are the responsibilities and job description for the Senior Accountant position at The River Food Pantry?
The River Food Pantry is seeking a detail-oriented, analytical, and strategic Senior Accountant to join our team. This role serves as the lead financial position for the organization, partners with the Executive Director and board to guide financial strategy and ensure long-term sustainability.
In the full-time Senior Accountant role, you will contribute to our mission of providing food, resources, and faith to build a stronger community by:
- Prepare and present financial statements to leadership and board
- Analyze financial data and trends while making strategic recommendations
- Manage day-to-day accounting (AP, AR, general ledger)
- Lead annual budgeting and monitor financial performance
- Ensure compliance with internal controls and procedures and nonprofit accounting standards
- Coordinate audits with external CPA and implement audit recommendations
- Manage an accounting staff member and collaborate with cross-functional teams.
To be successful in this role, you will need:
- Bachelor’s degree in accounting, finance or related field is required, CPA designation is preferred
- 5 years of progressive accounting experience is required
- 2 years of supervisory experience or leadership is required
- 2 years of payroll processing, AR/AP is required
- Proficiency in QuickBooks is required and experience in donor management software (e.g. Boomerang) is preferred
- Advanced proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite, specifically Excel is required
- Nonprofit accounting experience is preferred
- Ability to apply strategic thinking to financial data and provide insights and recommendations that support long-term organizational sustainability
- Commitment and passion for The River’s mission, vision and goals
- Ability to present financial information in a clear and understandable manner to support informed decision-making
- Proven ability to prioritize and manage competing deadlines
- Demonstrated ability to work independently while collaboratively effectively with cross-functional teams and leadership
- Ability to work with a broad group of people
- Ability to organize and prioritize work for self and team, ensuring deadlines are met and processes remain on track
- Background and DMV check are required
In exchange for your talents, we offer a pay range of $78,000 – $82,000 based on experience.
