Job Summary:
We are seeking a dedicated, experienced and talented individual to be the Quality Assurance Manager. In this role, you will provide leadership for the plant by establishing a safety & quality strategy, developing/strengthening our internal safety & quality culture, and driving continuous improvement of existing QA/Safety programs to meet Morris National standards. This position works closely with operations, maintenance, R&D, plant leadership and upper management in achieving goals, objectives and manages the facility team members, Quality Management system and programs, sanitation, and product specifications.
Key Responsibilities:
· Lead and manage all aspects of the Quality Assurance and Food Safety programs across the facility by monitoring the efficiency of the quality system and holding internal audits, organizing data and issuing facility performance reports.
· Maintain and continuously improve the company’s SQF certification and ensure compliance with all SQF Code requirements by documentation of changes/preventive controls required to meet the Food Safety Modernization Act (FSMA).
· Develop, implement, and monitor GMPs, HACCP, and other food safety and quality control systems.
· Provide the necessary safety and quality training, tools, and techniques when changes are made to programs and procedures, hold refresher trainings when a corrective action is identified, enable others to effectively achieve QA/Safety goals/objectives and keep employees safe while delivering wholesome, quality products that are safe for consumption.
· Coordinate internal and external audits, including regulatory (FDA) and third-party inspections.
· Investigate all near miss findings and customer/consumer complaints in a timely manner by conducting root cause analysis and implementing/documenting appropriate corrective/preventive actions.
· Oversee and provide training and documentation, including SOPs, quality control records, and preventive control plans to promote a culture of continuous improvement and food safety
· Support sales and regulatory compliance teams by updating product specifications and quality parameters into a product management system. Manage product traceability and recall programs, ensuring rapid and effective responses when needed.
· Monitor raw materials, in-process, and finished products to ensure compliance with specifications.
· Stay current on industry trends, regulatory changes, and best practices in food safety as you will be responsible for ensuring the facility maintains SQF certification (achieving scores necessary to meet customer requirements) and meets all regulatory requirements.
· Collaborate and meet with all departments to ensure quality objectives are met.
Qualifications:
· Minimum 8 years of experience in quality assurance management in the food manufacturing industry.
· Minimum education: Associates Degree; Bachelor Degree Preferred.
· SQF Practitioner Certification required; experience leading SQF audits strongly preferred.
· HACCP (Hazard Analysis Critical Control Point) Certification required.
· PCQI Certification required.
- Extensive knowledge of FDA regulations, GMPs, HACCP, and food safety systems.
- Strong leadership and people management skills.
- Excellent communication, organizational, and problem-solving abilities.
- Proficient in MS Office and QA management software.
- We currently use QT9, but any literacy with a software is required.
- Must be eligible to work in the U.S.; we do not offer sponsorship.
Preferred Qualifications:
· Experience in allergen control, sanitation programs, and supplier quality management.
- Bachelor’s degree in Food Science, Microbiology, Quality Assurance, or a related field preferred.
- Bilingual (English/Spanish) is a plus.
- recent SQF experience.
We are a SQF Facility (Level 2) and need someone who understands the importance of the level we hold ourselves and ensuring we pass our audits with high scores.
Working Conditions:
· Work is performed in both office and production environments.
- Must be able to occasionally lift up to 50 lbs.
- Availability for occasional off-hours or weekend audits/inspections as needed.
Job Type: Full-time
Pay: $80,000.00 - $100,000.00 per year
