UVA Health's New Graduate Registered Nurse Residency Program(NRP)is designed for recent nursing graduates fromAssociate Degree in Nursing (ADN),Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BSN), andMaster of Science in Nursing (MSN)programs who are ready to transition into professional practice within a nationally recognized academic health system. This program offers a direct, supported pathway from graduation into meaningfulclinical roles across inpatient, specialtyareas, and ambulatory settings.
The Role
As a New Graduate Registered Nurse at UVA Health's University Medical Center, youstep directly into a clinical rolethat balanceshigh acuitypatient care with intentional professional development. You are hired into a specific unit and grow within that practice through a thoughtfully designed residency experience.
In this role, you will:
Deliverevidence based,patient centerednursing care within your hired specialty, which may include ICU, Pediatrics, Main OR, Ambulatory, and other specialty departments.
Work side by side with experienced RNs, physicians, advanced practice providers, and interdisciplinary team members in a complex academic medical environment.
Participate in a structured, 12month Nurse Residency Program that blendshands-onclinical practice with monthly education sessions focused on leadership development, patient outcomes, and the professional role of the nurse.
Build clinical judgment, prioritization, and confidence through extended preceptorship and progressive independence.
Inpatient Nursing:$38.00 / hour `
Ambulatory Nursing:$36.00 / hour
Main OR Nursing:$39.50 / hour
MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS
Education: Graduate of an accredited nursing program required. Bachelor of Science in Nursing required within 5 years of hire.
Experience: No experience required.
Licensure: Licensed to Practice as a Registered Nurse in the Commonwealth of Virginia. American Heart Association (AHA) Health Care Provider BLS certification required.
PHYSICAL DEMANDS
Job requires standing for prolonged periods, frequently traveling and bending/stooping. Proficient communicative, auditory and visual skills; Attention to detail and ability to write legibly; Ability to lift/push/pull 20 - 50lbs. May be exposed to chemicals, blood/body fluids and infectious disease.
