Charlottesville, VA Full Time
POSTED ON 10/30/2026
AVAILABLE BEFORE 12/29/2026

Bring your perfusion expertise to the moments when precision, clinical judgment, and exceptional teamwork matter most.

At UVA Health, Perfusionists are essential partners in delivering sophisticated cardiovascular care. This opportunity places you alongside an experienced, multidisciplinary cardiac team supporting patients with complex surgical and circulatory needs, including cardiac surgery, transplantation, ventricular assist devices and other complex care pathways.

The Role

As a Perfusionist, you will bring specialized knowledge of extracorporeal circulation, cardiovascular physiology, and mechanical support to a high-acuity clinical environment. You will work closely with cardiac surgeons, anesthesiologists, nurses, and other cardiovascular specialists, providing the vigilance and technical expertise required when every clinical decision matters.

Your work will include:

  • Providing cardiopulmonary bypass and perfusion support for cardiac surgical procedures.
  • Preparing, operating, and managing perfusion equipment and related technologies according to established clinical standards.
  • Collaborating closely with the surgical and anesthesia teams to support safe, coordinated care throughout complex procedures.
  • Contributing perfusion expertise to a cardiac program whose capabilities include coronary artery bypass surgery, valve repair and replacement, aortic surgery, heart transplantation, ventricular assist devices, and complex cardiac surgery.
  • Supporting an environment where communication, precision, readiness, and multidisciplinary teamwork directly influence patient care.

Whether you are an experienced perfusionistor new graduate, this is an opportunity to practice in an environment where your expertise is not simply technical support. You are an integral clinical partner within the cardiac surgical team.
