JOB TYPEClassification: Non ExemptSupervises Positions:JOB SUMMARYThe MRI technologist will work with the radiologist and fellow staff members to prepare patients and operate magnetic resonance equipment in order to obtain diagnostic scans. The MRI technologist works under general supervision in performing a variety of exams and procedures according to departmental protocol, as requested by physician order. The technologist will position the patient's body part for imaging and set appropriate technical factors on the imaging equipment with a high degree of competency to ensure production of quality images for interpretation by the radiologist.
QUALIFICATIONSEducation:High School Diploma or GED required. Graduate of an accredited school for Magnetic Resonance Imaging.
Experience:2 years of healthcare experience preferred. Refer to the Life Support Training Policy for additional details.
Licensure:ARRT or ARMRIT Registered in MRI, or eligible. Registry must be completed within 12 months of hire.
Additional Skills/Requirements Required:Demonstrates proficiency in verbal and written communications. Ability to work in a stressful environment. Ability to multitask and proficient in MRI safety.

Competencies:- Explains the procedure and post-procedure orders to the patient to gain cooperation and minimize anxiety.
- Prioritizes workflow in regard to patient condition and ensures patients' arrival and departure occur in a timely manner.
- Provides an atmosphere conducive to gain the patient's cooperation and confidence.
- Utilizes data received from patient satisfaction and practice performance results to identify opportunities to improve and participates in the planning and improvement process.
- Shares and initiates regular and professional communication with co-workers.
- Facilitates and participates in regular staff meetings.
- Maintains sterile equipment and fields.
- Adjusts cameras to obtain the proper density and contrast.
- Performs any necessary warm-up and quality control procedures on the equipment.
- Uses protocols to obtain images of internal structures.
- Critiques images for quality and makes necessary judgments to determine if repeat is necessary.
The incumbent may be asked to perform additional duties as assigned.
PHYSICAL DEMANDSPhysical Demand Code:Medium to Heavy Physical Demand: The job requires constant standing, frequently walking, and bending/stooping. Proficient communicative, auditory, and visual skills. Attention to detail and ability to write legibly. Ability to lift/push/pull 100 lbs. For any weight over 35 lbs., use Safe Handling Equipment. The base compensation range for this role is $38.83 - $50.48 hourly.
Individual compensation will be determined by the selected candidate's qualifications, previous work experience, and/or education. Please note that the pay range does not include any applicable incentive compensation programs such as shift differentials, clinical ladders, and other incentives that may be available for those in eligible positions.
