The Department of Athletics at the University of Virginia is accepting applications for the position of Associate Athletics Director of Financial Operations. Reporting to the Deputy AD/CFO/COO, this role supports financial and budgetary needs of the Department and is a key member of the Athletics Business Office.
Duties and Responsibilities
- Lead Athletics operational financial management, ensuring alignment with departmental goals
- Prepare and review monthly financial statements, annual audit, and annual reporting (NCAA and EADA)
- Direct annual budget formation, development, and implementation in conjunction with COO/CFO
- Collaborate with COO/CFO on long-term financial planning and strategic initiatives
- Partner with Central Finance to ensure accuracy in Athletics financial accounting
- Manage capital projects financial tracking
- Oversee financial reconciliations and maintain alignment with third party vendors
- Supervise Business Office staffers & other units, as assigned
- Provide complex analytical support and financial management expertise.
Knowledge/Skills/Abilities
- Working knowledge of NCAA rules and regulations
- Ability to analyze and interpret data, processes, and systems to derive meaningful insights for decision-making
- Strong problem-solving and creative thinking skills
- Show professionalism and poise when interacting with a broad range of constituencies including coaches, staff, University administrators, and third-parties
- Maintain attention to detail, meeting deadlines, multi-tasking, and prioritizing competing demands amidst a rapidly changing environment
- Clear ability to maintain confidentiality
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite of products.
Required Qualifications
Education: Bachelor's degree required.
Experience: 5 years of relevant professional experience.
Preferred Qualifications
- Master's degree in related field
- Prior business office experience in higher education or athletics
- Understanding of NCAA-related policies and financial reporting
- Experience with Workday or similar ERP system
- Experience developing, analyzing, and executing complex budgets and long-range business/fiscal management plans
- Supervisory experience
About the Position
The salary range is commensurate with qualifications and experience. This position will not consider candidates who require immigration sponsorship now or in the future. This is primarily a sedentary job involving extensive use of desktop computers. The job does occasionally require traveling some distance to attend meetings, and programs.
