Construction Safety Manager, Indianapolis, IN
Requires some travel across Midwest project sites.
My client is seeking a dedicated Construction Safety Manager to join our team and oversee on-site risk management for our active construction projects. In this role, you will act as a primary resource for field supervisors and crew members, fostering a proactive safety culture through daily engagement, hazard prevention, and the integration of best practices into all phases of construction.
Construction Safety Manager Key Responsibilities
- Field Assessments: Conduct routine site walkthroughs to monitor adherence to federal, state, and internal corporate safety guidelines.
- Risk Management: Collaborate with project management to resolve unsafe conditions, implement corrective action plans, and track resolution metrics.
- Project Kick-Offs: Evaluate pre-construction documentation and assist project teams in designing site-specific safety plans.
- Contractor Relations: Review trade partner safety compliance and lead safety briefings during alignment meetings.
- Incident Analysis: Oversee investigations for any accidents, injuries, or close-calls to establish root causes and author detailed documentation.
- Regulatory Liaison: Act as the main point of contact for external agency inspections, including OSHA representatives.
- Workforce Development: Facilitate on-site safety training sessions and participate in company-wide safety panels and industry trade groups.
Construction Safety Manager Qualifications & Experience
- Education: Bachelor’s degree in Occupational Safety and Health, Construction Management, Civil Engineering, or a related discipline. Equivalent hands-on field experience may be considered.
- Experience: Minimum of 3 years of progressive safety management experience specifically within the commercial or industrial construction sector.
- Credentials: OSHA 30-Hour Construction card is mandatory. Holding or actively pursuing CHST, STS-C, OSHA 510, or BCSP certifications is highly advantageous.
- Regulatory Expertise: Thorough, working knowledge of OSHA Part 1926 standards.
- Core Skills: Strong interpersonal skills with the ability to lead training sessions and communicate effectively with field labor, project managers, and clients. Proficiency with mobile inspection software and standard office applications is expected.
- Logistics: Valid driver’s license and a clean motor vehicle record. Must be willing to travel regionally with occasional overnight stays.
- Physical Requirements: Ability to navigate active, unpaved jobsites in diverse weather conditions. This includes climbing ladders or scaffolding, standing for extended durations, and moving jobsite materials as required.

Pay: $90,000.00 - $110,000.00 per year
