Human Resources Generalist

The QTI Group is partnering with a Madison area client to hire a Human Resources Generalist. We are seeking a hands-on Generalist who is nimble and doesn’t mind just about any HR ball being thrown their way – recruitment, onboarding, leave administration, employee relations, workers comp, and general admin tasks too. You’ll be out and about on the production floor, building relationships, and making an impact on the employee experience.

Location: 100% onsite - Madison, Wisconsin. (relocation assistance not provided)

Responsibilities

• Lead full-cycle recruiting efforts for hourly roles, including sourcing, screening, interviewing, and hiring
• Administer leave programs including FMLA, ADA accommodations, and workers’ compensation processes
• Coordinate and facilitate new hire onboarding and orientation to ensure a strong employee experience
• Respond to employee questions on any HR-related matter – payroll, benefits, career growth, and more.
• Support a wide range of employee relations activities including investigations, coaching, conflict resolution, etc.
• Plan and support employee engagement activities
• Conduct exit interviews, support offboarding processes, and maintain accurate employee records
• Collaborate with HR team members and leaders to drive continuous process improvement
• Demonstrate flexibility by stepping in to support a variety of HR needs as they arise

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Human Resources or related field
• 3 years of progressive HR experience, ideally with high volume recruiting in a manufacturing environment
• Experience administering FMLA and other leaves of absence
• Strong communication skills, including employee relations skills with the ability to build relationships at all levels—from shop floor to senior leadership
• Knowledge of federal and state employment laws and HR best practices
• Proven ability to handle sensitive and confidential information with discretion and professionalism
• Experience with HR systems and data (e.g., Excel, HRIS platforms)
• Union environment exposure is a plus, but not required
