Duties
- Assist residents with Activities of Daily Living (ADLs), including bathing, dressing, grooming, toileting, and mobility support.
- Monitor and record vital signs such as blood pressure, pulse, and temperature to ensure residents’ health status is maintained.
- Support residents with medication administration following proper protocols and documentation procedures using Electronic Medical Record (EMR) systems.
- Provide specialized care for residents with dementia or Alzheimer’s disease, implementing memory care strategies and behavior management techniques.
- Assist with meal preparation, feeding, and ensuring proper nutrition tailored to individual dietary needs.
- Support residents during outings or appointments by driving or accompanying them safely using mobility aids like Hoyer lifts when necessary.
- Maintain a clean and safe environment by performing light housekeeping duties within resident rooms and common areas.
- Collaborate with nursing staff, social workers, and family members to develop personalized care plans that promote independence and well-being.
- Utilize your knowledge of assisted living, home & community care experience, group home operations, and long-term care practices to deliver comprehensive support.
Skills
- Proven experience in nursing homes, retirement homes, or personal care homes with a strong understanding of senior care principles.
- Knowledge of dementia care, Alzheimer’s care, memory care techniques, and behavior management strategies.
- Ability to perform vital signs measurement accurately and recognize signs of health deterioration.
- Familiarity with medication administration protocols and EMR systems for documentation purposes.
- Experience working with individuals with developmental disabilities or disabilities requiring specialized support.
- First aid certification along with CPR training to respond effectively in emergencies.
- Skilled in assisting with ADLs using assistive devices such as Hoyer lifts; comfortable with mobility support tasks.
- Excellent caregiving skills combined with compassionate communication to foster trusting relationships with residents.
- Ability to work independently or as part of a team within assisted living or home & community care environments.
