Duties
- Lead and supervise youth during evening activities, ensuring a safe and inclusive environment for all participants
- Facilitate engaging youth group activities, including games, arts and crafts, educational sessions, and team-building exercises
- Manage behavior using positive behavior management techniques and enforce program rules consistently
- Coordinate with other staff members to plan age-appropriate programming that supports childhood development and social-emotional growth
- Effective de-escalation skills
- Maintain accurate attendance records, activity logs, and incident reports as needed
- Communicate effectively with parents or guardians regarding youth progress or concerns when appropriate
- Opening and Closing ensuring the safety of our youth
- Maintain nightly cleaning schedule and supply list
Requirements
- Proven experience working with children or youth in educational, childcare, camp, or recreational settings
- Strong classroom management skills with the ability to maintain order while fostering a positive environment
- Certification in first aid, CPR, AED operation, and knowledge of first aid protocols (or willingness to obtain upon hire)
- Background in special education or experience working with children with diverse needs is preferred
- Demonstrated leadership skills with the ability to motivate and guide young participants effectively
- Experience in outdoor work environments or outdoor activity facilitation is advantageous
- Knowledge of at-risk youth and principles and youth program best practices
- Ability to work evenings consistently, demonstrating flexibility and reliability in scheduling
