What are the responsibilities and job description for the Host/Hostess position at The PM Lounge?
POSITION SUMMARY: To effectively coordinate and control the flow of the door by greeting arrivals, seating and acknowledging departures of all members, which results in a Superior Member Experience for all PML members.
ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS: (Key Tasks and Responsibilities)
Reports to work as indicated on the work schedule and in the correct uniform. Practices positive personal hygiene and cleanliness habits during all work shifts.
Obtains staffing and station assignments for all servers, service assistants, runners and bar staff from the Manager on Duty. Completes table/station chart with these assignments.
Correctly completes all opening and sidework duties of the hostess/host at the start of the shift, in a timely manner.
Assists the Manager on Duty in planning reservations and assigning parties to appropriate tables, stations and/or servers.
Answer the telephone in a timely, pleasant and courteous manner. Correctly takes, confirms and documents reservations.
Immediately recognizes and greets arriving members, obtains members’ names, provides names to servers and directs members to the appropriate waiting areas.
Escorts members to their assigned table, delivers and presents menus to all members.
Controls the flow of business by practicing rotation seating, anticipating table turns and following the reservation and seating plan.
Accurately quotes waiting times to members and correctly maintains the “wait” list. Inform Manager on Duty when waiting times are running over times quoted to our members.
Maintains cleanliness and organization of the hostess/host stand and lobby area throughout the shift.
Practices teamwork by assisting fellow employees to enhance our members’ dining experience.
Communicates to the Manager on Duty all situations where a member may express concern or dissatisfaction with any aspect of the dining experience.
Accomplishes all job duties while adhering to all safety guidelines and practices throughout the shift. Reports any unsafe condition, unsafe act, accidents and/or injuries to the Chef or other Manager on Duty.
Acknowledges all departing members and invites them to return.
Completes all closing duties in a timely manner.
Performs all duties and maintains knowledge of all standards and procedures, as stated in the PML Employee Training Packet – Hostess/ Host.
PHYSICAL DEMANDS: (Minimum qualifications needed to perform essential job functions)
Must be able to lift, handle and carry trays, smallwares and equipment weighing up to 25 pounds.
Must have a good sense of balance, be able to bend, kneel, stoop, reach and squat on a frequent basis to obtain and store printed materials, menus, wine lists and other hostess/host stand supply items.
Must be able to constantly stand and exert well-paced mobility for a period of up to four hours in length or longer.
Must be able to communicate effectively and listen attentively to supervisors, employees and members.
Must be able to continuously use fingers to bilaterally operate the telephone and use point-of-sale equipment.
