Payroll Specialist – Nonprofit Healthcare | Atwater, CA
Pay: $28.50/hour
Schedule: Monday – Friday, 8:00am – 5:00pm
Type: Temporary (with potential for hire based on client needs and performance)
About the Role:
We are seeking a Payroll Specialist to support our client, a nonprofit healthcare organization in Atwater, CA. The Payroll Specialist will be responsible for preparing and processing payroll, handling payroll inquiries, and supporting related accounting and HR functions. This role is ideal for someone detail-oriented, organized, and experienced with payroll systems.
Key Responsibilities
- Process employee timesheets, review submissions from multiple sites, and make corrections as needed.
- Compile and input payroll adjustments, issue paychecks and stubs.
- Maintain payroll database, account numbers, and codes in compliance with Personnel Change Forms.
- Stay up to date on changes in tax and deduction laws relevant to payroll.
- Track and maintain accurate benefit accruals (sick time, PTO).
- Train staff on e-Time systems when needed.
- Maintain organized payroll files and reports.
- Generate payroll reports and provide accurate data to leadership.
- Post payroll data from ADP into the G/L, including journal and accrual entries for month-end close.
- Support HR and Accounts Payable as needed.
- Assist with employee onboarding, training, and payroll orientation.
- Perform other duties and special projects as assigned.
Minimum Qualifications
- High school diploma or equivalent required; college coursework in accounting or business preferred.
- 2 years of computerized payroll experience (ADP experience preferred).
- Proficiency in Excel and strong data entry skills (10-key experience a plus).
- Knowledge of payroll methods, practices, and terminology.
- Strong attention to detail, accuracy, and ability to work under tight deadlines.
- Excellent communication and organizational skills.
