Job Title: Senior Technical Business Analyst - solid SQL and data analysis

Location: New York City, NY (Hybrid – 3 days onsite per week)

Duration: 6 months (long-term contract)

Rate: $600–$650/day

Introduction

Our client is seeking a Senior Technical Business Analyst - solid SQL and data analysis (Technical BA) to serve as the functional counterpart to the BI/Power BI Developer within a growing Business Intelligence team. This role is ideal for a highly analytical professional who excels at translating business needs into actionable reporting solutions. You’ll play a critical role in shaping data storytelling, improving business processes, and enabling informed decision-making across finance and operations.

Required Skills & Qualifications

• Minimum 8 years of experience as a Business Analyst, preferably within reporting, BI, or data-driven environments.
• Proven ability to gather, document, and translate business requirements into technical specifications for development teams.
• Strong SQL skills and understanding of relational databases.
• Proficiency in Excel for data analysis and validation.
• Excellent communication and collaboration skills with both business stakeholders and technical teams.
• Experience working with large data sets

Preferred Skills & Qualifications

• Experience within finance or private equity environments.
• Understanding of data visualization best practices and reporting optimization.

Day-to-Day Responsibilities

• Partner with the business and BI teams to understand reporting needs and translate them into clear, actionable technical requirements.
• Collaborate closely with developers to design and deliver intuitive, visually engaging dashboards and reports.
• Ensure data accuracy and consistency across reports while advocating for efficient, scalable data processes.
• Work with stakeholders to gather requirements, define KPIs, and support data-driven decision-making.
• Manage and prioritize multiple concurrent projects, ensuring timely and high-quality deliverables.
• Act as a liaison between technical and non-technical teams to bridge communication and expectations.

Team Structure

• Business Intelligence Team: 3 onshore (NYC) 4 offshore
• Data Engineering Team: Based in Dallas (2 onshore 5 offshore; team lead in Dallas)
