Job Description
The Planet Group is seeking a Senior / Lead Engineer (SME) that is a highly experienced professional responsible for solving complex engineering challenges within their area of specialization. This role requires deep technical expertise, sound judgment, and the ability to operate with minimal supervision while driving high-impact solutions. The individual is recognized as a subject matter expert and contributes to strategic technical direction, innovation, and best practices.
Must have a Bachelor degree in Civil Engineering
Key Responsibilities
- Solve complex and high-impact engineering problems within area of expertise
- Apply advanced engineering principles, methods, and standards to diverse and challenging assignments
- Lead technical design, analysis, and execution of projects
- Serve as a Subject Matter Expert (SME), providing guidance and technical leadership across teams
- Review and approve engineering deliverables, ensuring accuracy, quality, and compliance
- Identify technical risks and develop mitigation strategies
- Mentor and develop junior engineers and technical staff
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams, clients, and stakeholders to drive project success
- Contribute to process improvements, innovation, and continuous improvement initiatives
- Support strategic planning and technical decision-making at the project or organizational level
Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in Engineering or related field required
- Minimum 15 years of relevant discipline experience
- Demonstrated expertise as a Subject Matter Expert in a specialized technical area
- Proven ability to work independently and lead complex technical efforts
- Strong understanding of industry standards, codes, and best practices
- Excellent analytical, problem-solving, and decision-making skills
- Strong communication and stakeholder engagement abilities
Preferred Qualifications
- Professional Engineer (PE) license or equivalent
- Experience leading large-scale or high-risk engineering projects
- Prior experience mentoring or managing technical teams
