Location: Lakewood, CO 80226
Pay: $30–$34/hr
Schedule: Alternate shifts based on customer requirements (may include early mornings starting around 5:00 AM, evenings, and weekends).
The HVAC Technician is responsible for delivering efficient and timely maintenance and repair services across multiple commercial properties within an assigned territory. This role involves traveling to various sites using a company-provided vehicle and tools. In addition to HVAC work, the technician will perform minor carpentry, plumbing, and electrical maintenance. Duties include preventative, corrective, and predictive maintenance, troubleshooting, and servicing commercial HVAC systems. The technician should understand control operations and sequences for HVAC systems and utilize multiple trade skills to resolve maintenance issues. Strong communication skills are essential for building positive relationships with customers, vendors, and team members.
Key Responsibilities:- Perform thorough preventative maintenance on standard package and split-unit HVAC systems, including inspection and repair/replacement of belts, pulleys, condensate drain cleaning, compressor and motor testing, and safety checks on burners and heat exchangers.
- Diagnose and repair airflow and ducting issues.
- Handle refrigerants safely and in compliance with EPA standards.
- Troubleshoot and repair mechanical, electrical, and system failures on boilers, package units, and split systems (e.g., motors, compressors, contactors, leaks, brazing copper components).
- Complete work orders for preventative maintenance and repairs following company procedures and safety standards.
- Perform minor plumbing tasks (e.g., unclog drains, repair leaks, replace fixtures).
- Conduct basic carpentry and painting repairs to maintain facilities in good condition.
- Perform minor electrical tasks within state law (e.g., replace fixtures, switches, outlets, bulbs, ballasts).
- Utilize technology (tablet/smartphone) for work order management, reporting, and documentation.
- Maintain consistent communication with customers and internal teams to ensure satisfaction.
- Attend required safety training and meetings.
- Provide estimates for larger projects as needed.
- Perform other duties as assigned.
- High school diploma or equivalent; technical certification or state-approved HVAC license preferred.
- Minimum 5 years of HVAC and general maintenance experience (including electrical, plumbing, and carpentry) or equivalent combination of training and experience.
- Experience with commercial/industrial HVAC systems required.
- EPA Universal Refrigeration License required.
- Valid driver’s license in good standing.
- Ability to read and interpret instructions, safety policies, and technical manuals.
- Proficient in basic computer applications (Microsoft Office, Outlook) and mobile technology.
- Knowledge of OSHA standards and compliance with safety policies.
- Ability to travel locally between properties daily.
