Location: Philadelphia, PA 19103 (Hybrid – 3 days in office, 2 days remote; no fully remote option)
Salary Range: $90,000 – $120,000 DOE 3–8% bonus (cutoff 10/01)
We are seeking a Geotechnical Engineer to join our team in either Columbus, OH or Philadelphia, PA. This role is ideal for a motivated professional with a background in civil or geotechnical engineering who is eager to work on diverse and challenging projects. The Geotechnical Engineer will be responsible for planning and executing field explorations, analyzing soil and geohazard data, and developing geotechnical designs for foundations, retaining walls, and slope stability. Required Skills & Qualifications• Bachelor’s degree in Civil Engineering, Geotechnical Engineering, or related field
• 3–7 years of relevant experience in geotechnical engineering
• Knowledge and understanding of industry codes and standards
• FE certification mandatory; PE highly preferred
• Proficiency with applicable engineering software tools
• Strong written and verbal communication skills
• Critical thinking, time management, and organizational skills
• Ability to meet deadlines, manage priorities, and work effectively in high-pressure situations
• Solid analytical and problem-solving skills with accuracy and attention to detail
• Experience on engineering, procurement, and construction projects desirable
• PE license strongly preferred
• Previous experience reviewing and approving geotechnical designs developed by outside consultants
• Ability to provide leadership, evaluate team performance, and identify training needs
• Perform geotechnical analysis and studies to assess mitigation options for geohazards (e.g., seismic analysis, karst evaluation, slope stability)
• Plan and conduct field geotechnical explorations and investigations
• Review soil laboratory test results and perform design calculations for foundations, retaining walls, and directional drilling
• Assist in developing proposals, budgets, and schedules for investigations
• Direct technical teams in field inspection activities
• Collaborate with clients and internal teams to deliver projects on time and within scope
• Support the Program Manager in the design and evaluation of construction documents
• Develop design drawings and specifications for geotechnical construction projects
• Review and approve geotechnical aspects of contractor and consultant design proposals
• Evaluate team performance and determine training requirements to achieve project objectives
