Hybrid – 3 days in-office, 2 days remote
Salary range: $90K - $120K DOE
Position Overview:
We are seeking a Geotechnical Engineer to support and grow a regional team in either Philadelphia, PA or Columbus, OH. This individual will lead and support the design and execution of geotechnical engineering projects, including field investigations, laboratory reviews, and complex geotechnical analysis and design.
This is a hybrid position, requiring three days per week onsite and two days remote. Project travel is primarily local within the assigned region (either Philadelphia or Columbus).
The ideal candidate is technically strong, detail-oriented, and looking for an opportunity to make an impact on a close-knit and growing team. While many projects are related to natural gas facilities, the company is open to candidates from other industries, including infrastructure, environmental, or general construction.
Key Responsibilities:
- Perform geotechnical analyses and studies to assess geohazards, including seismic analysis and karst terrain evaluations
- Plan and conduct field geotechnical explorations
- Analyze subsurface conditions and review soil and rock laboratory test results
- Conduct calculations for design of foundations, retaining walls, slope stability, and horizontal directional drills (HDDs)
- Prepare technical reports, design documents, and construction specifications
- Assist in developing proposals, estimating cost, and setting schedules for geotechnical investigations
- Guide technical field teams during site inspection and exploration activities
- Collaborate with clients, engineers, and internal stakeholders to complete projects efficiently and on time
- Review and approve geotechnical designs developed by external consultants
- Support the Program Manager in evaluating project designs and construction documentation
- Participate in performance evaluations and help identify team training needs
Required Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s Degree in Civil Engineering, Geotechnical Engineering, or a related field
- 3–7 years of relevant geotechnical engineering experience
- FE Certification is mandatory, PE License highly preferred
- Strong understanding of industry codes and standards
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills
- Highly organized with strong time management and critical thinking abilities
- Able to manage multiple deadlines in fast-paced environments
- Proficiency in geotechnical software and common engineering applications
- Experience on EPC projects (Engineering, Procurement, Construction) is a plus
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills with attention to detail
