We are seeking a Computer Systems Engineer II to participate in computer systems and automation project teams responsible for designing, purchasing, implementing, and supporting industrial systems across multiple manufacturing locations. This role will collaborate closely with plant operations to troubleshoot system issues, maintain high-availability environments, and support the Controls Team through standardized code libraries, virtualization management, and systems integration initiatives.
Key Responsibilities- Design and implement computer-based systems supporting manufacturing equipment, automation, and engineering processes
- Develop and maintain interfaces between PLCs, machines, sensors, databases, and enterprise systems
- Support industrial control systems, SCADA platforms, and HMI applications
- Perform network design and upgrades in alignment with IT security standards and best practices
- Troubleshoot and resolve hardware, software, virtualization, and network-related system issues
- Support data acquisition, visualization, reporting, and analytics for manufacturing operations
- Maintain, back up, document, and troubleshoot virtual machines and ESXi server environments
- Lead and support continuous improvement initiatives involving HMI, UI, ERP, and plant system integrations
- Install and maintain distributed control systems company-wide
- Collaborate with engineering, IT, vendors, and manufacturing teams to optimize system performance and reliability
- Provide technical support to facilities worldwide
- Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering, Computer Systems, or related field; equivalent experience considered
- 2–7 years of control systems or computer systems engineering experience
- Familiarity with Allen Bradley PLC systems including PLC5, SLC, and ControlLogix
- Experience with HMI platforms such as FactoryTalk and Ignition preferred
- Strong programming skills in Python, C, SQL, Java, and CSS
- Experience supporting systems with strict uptime and reliability requirements
- Strong database design and management experience with MS SQL Server
- Strong understanding of networking and network security best practices
- Experience with VMware Workstation and ESXi virtualization platforms
- Knowledge of VLANs, spanning tree, IP routing, and Layer 2/3 networking concepts
- Familiarity with OPC-UA, MQTT, and Kepware preferred
- Strong analytical, troubleshooting, and problem-solving skills with the ability to manage complex technical environments
