Key Responsibilities
- Oversee daily shipping and receiving operations, ensuring accuracy and efficiency.
- Train and mentor shipping and receiving team members, providing guidance and support.
- Manage inventory levels within the shipping and receiving areas, conducting regular cycle counts.
- Coordinate with carriers and logistics providers to schedule pickups and deliveries.
- Inspect incoming goods for damage and discrepancies, resolving any issues promptly.
- Ensure proper packaging and labeling of outgoing shipments to meet customer and carrier requirements.
- Maintain organized and safe working conditions in the shipping and receiving department.
- Utilize warehouse management systems (WMS) for tracking and reporting on shipments and inventory.
- Proven experience in a shipping and receiving environment, preferably in manufacturing.
- Strong understanding of inventory management systems and warehouse best practices.
- Excellent organizational and time management skills with the ability to prioritize tasks.
- Proficient in using shipping software and equipment, including forklifts and pallet jacks.
- Demonstrated leadership abilities with experience in supervising a team.
- Ability to communicate effectively with internal departments and external carriers.
- - Experience with lean manufacturing principles and their application in warehouse operations.
- - Forklift certification (or willingness to obtain).
- - Basic understanding of inventory management software or ERP systems.
- - Familiarity with hazardous materials handling and shipping regulations.
