The Pines at Davidson is hiring a sous chef to create innovative, delicious meals for a high-end dining experience. The Sous Chef supports the culinary operations of The Pines at Davidson by assisting with food preparation, production, quality assurance, team leadership, and kitchen organization. The Sous Chef supports the culinary operations of The Pines at Davidson by providing direct leadership and supervision of Lead Cooks, Cooks, and Sanitation Team Members while ensuring excellence in food quality, team performance, resident satisfaction, food safety, labor management, and daily kitchen operations. This position reports directly to the Executive Chef and ensures meals are prepared and served in accordance with established recipes, quality standards, food safety regulations, and hospitality expectations. Who you are
Experience
- Previous experience as a Sous Chef, Lead Cook, or comparable culinary leadership position. • Experience in senior living, healthcare, hospitality, club, hotel, and restaurant dining environments preferred. • Knowledge of food safety and sanitation regulations. • Strong communication, leadership team member development, and organizational skills. • ServSafe Certification preferred or ability to obtain.
- Proficiency in dining services and HR technologies.
ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS:
- Directly supervise Lead Cooks, Cooks, and Sanitation Team Members. Assist in planning, preparing, and executing daily menus, special events, and catered functions.
- Oversee a team of cooks who execute food production, according to established recipes, portion standards, presentation guidelines, and resident preferences; participates in food preparation as needed.
- Provide daily leadership, direction, coaching, and support to assigned team members.

PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS (AS DETERMINED USING WORKSHEET): (Include Vision, Language, Hearing, Range of Motion, Lifting Capacity, Sitting/Standing, etc.)
1. Ability to stand and walk for extended periods.
2. Ability to lift and carry up to 50 pounds.
3. Frequent bending, reaching, pushing, pulling, and lifting.
4. Ability to work flexible schedules, including evenings, weekends, and holidays as required.
5. Repetitive use of hands includes fine manipulation using knives, measuring implements, and key boards.
6. Work performed in an indoor setting with occasional walking outdoors
