What are the responsibilities and job description for the Business Development Director position at The Pidcock Company?
Description
The Business Development Director is responsible for identifying, pursuing, and securing new business and clients for the firm’s civil engineering and land planning practice. This is a senior, externally focused role that owns the full business development lifecycle — from market intelligence and lead generation through relationship cultivation, pursuit strategy, proposal development, and contract award.
The successful candidate will shape, grow, and run the firm’s entire business development program. They will build and manage a pipeline of opportunities across private development, institutional, commercial, and municipal markets; cultivate relationships with developers, property owners, attorneys, architects, municipal officials, and referral partners; and represent The Pidcock Company throughout the Lehigh Valley and eastern Pennsylvania. This is a hands-on, self-directed role that pairs strategic program ownership with the day-to-day relationship work that converts connections into signed engagements.
The Pidcock Company values candidates who combine a genuine network in the region with disciplined pursuit management and polished communication. While this role is built around winning new work, it succeeds only in close partnership with the firm’s principals and technical staff — making collaboration, credibility, and a long-term, relationship-first mindset essential qualities.
