Systems Engineer
Contract to hire
Onsite | Aliso Viejo, CA...Mon-Fri- 9 AM-5 PM PST
Pay range $50-$60/hour
Position Overview
We are seeking a skilled and motivated Systems Engineer with 4 years of hands-on experience to join our team onsite in Aliso Viejo, California. The ideal candidate will have strong expertise in Linux systems administration, enterprise storage solutions (preferably Isilon), and virtualization technologies, with Hyper-V experience being highly desirable.
Key Responsibilities
- Administer, maintain, and support Linux-based systems in a production environment
- Manage and optimize enterprise storage solutions, including Dell EMC Isilon
- Configure, monitor, and troubleshoot system performance, availability, and security
- Support virtualization environments, with a focus on Microsoft Hyper-V
- Perform system upgrades, patching, and capacity planning
- Troubleshoot hardware, software, and network-related issues
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams to support infrastructure needs
- Maintain documentation for systems, processes, and configurations
- Participate in on-call rotation and provide after-hours support as needed
Required Qualifications
- 4 years of experience as a Systems Engineer or Systems Administrator
- Strong experience with Linux (RHEL, CentOS, Ubuntu, or similar distributions)
- Hands-on experience with enterprise storage systems, preferably Dell EMC Isilon
- Solid understanding of system performance tuning and troubleshooting
- Experience with scripting (Bash, Python, or similar)
- Knowledge of networking fundamentals (DNS, TCP/IP, NFS, SMB)
- Strong problem-solving skills and attention to detail
Preferred Qualifications
- Experience with Microsoft Hyper-V virtualization platform
- Familiarity with Windows Server environments
- Experience with backup and disaster recovery solutions
- Exposure to cloud platforms (Azure, AWS) is a plus
- Relevant certifications (RHCSA/RHCE, Microsoft, Dell EMC, etc.) are a plus
