Controller

The Phillip Charles Group has been servicing the local metro Detroit area for the past 30 years and has built incredibly strong partnerships with our clients, candidates and employees. We have worked with our current client for the past 25 years and they are looking for a strong Controller for a Direct Hire opportunity in their Downriver, Mi. location.

Seeking a Controller to oversee the company's accounting operations and general ledger management. This is a direct-hire, in-office position with a standard schedule of 45–50 hours per week.

Key Responsibilities:

- Supervise daily accounting activities, including accounts payable and receivable.

- Manage general ledger transactions, account reconciliations, and the chart of accounts.

- Maintain fixed asset schedules and provide accurate financial statements.

- Prepare regulatory reports and ensure federal and state compliance.

- Assist with financial analysis and provide data for annual audits.

- Execute wire transfers and handle payroll, including payroll taxes and ADP processing.

Requirements:

- Bachelor’s degree in Accounting.

- 5–7 years of experience, ideally in a manufacturing environment.

- Strong Excel skills (creating and utilizing complex spreadsheets).

- Experience with 401k administration is preferred.

Compensation and Schedule:

- Salary: Starting at $120,000, commensurate with manufacturing experience and skill level.

- Hours: Shifts are 7:00 AM – 4:00 PM or 8:00 AM – 5:00 PM.
