Our client, a manufacturing company located in the Brentwood, NY area, is looking for a Logistics Specialist to join their team
What you will do in this role:
- Develop, analyze, and coordinate transportation and distribution procedures to maximize delivery efficiency and optimize cost.
- Make independent strategic and real-time decisions in carrier selection, routing and operational changes impacting customer service.
- Ensure that transportation operations remain within budgetary guidelines. Assist in establishing and managing budgets.
- Take ownership of all outbound and inbound truck scheduling with the 3PL
- Negotiate freight rates and verify carrier invoices for correct freight charges; log on shipment/invoice database. Constantly source opportunities to reduce overall freight rate.
- Reconcile all outbound and inbound shipments from 3PL and owned warehouse
- Monitor transfer completions across all DCs
What you will bring to the role:
- Excellent interpersonal, analytical / problem-solving and conflict resolution skills.
- Familiarity with computer (ERP/DRP/WMS) systems.
- 2 years of experience in logistics function, preferably in a food manufacturing environment
