Overview
This role owns execution at the factory level. As Production Manager, you are responsible for turning approved products into delivered inventory, on time, at spec, and at cost. You will manage day-to-day relationships with factory partners and ensure each purchase order moves seamlessly from pre-production through shipment.
You serve as the final quality gate before product reaches the customer. This role is highly proactive, focused on identifying risks early, resolving issues quickly, and building systems to prevent repeat challenges.
Key Responsibilities
Production Execution
- Own the production calendar across all factories and SKUs
- Manage time and action calendars for each purchase order
- Track production from placement through delivery
- Ensure deadlines are met across apparel, equipment, and accessories
- Identify and mitigate risks related to capacity, materials, and timelines
Sample Approvals (PP TOP)
- Track and manage pre-production and top-of-production samples
- Review and approve construction, materials, fit, and packaging
- Maintain quality standards with no compromises
Factory Management
- Own daily communication with factory partners
- Manage timelines, capacity planning, and issue resolution
- Build strong, accountable relationships with vendors
- Address performance issues and drive improvements
Quality Control
- Own pre-shipment quality control processes
- Manage internal and third-party inspections
- Enforce AQL standards and defect thresholds
- Ensure all shipments meet quality expectations
Factory Performance Management
- Track vendor performance metrics (on-time delivery, defect rates, etc.)
- Identify underperformance and escalate as needed
- Drive continuous improvement across factory partners
Cross-Functional Collaboration
- Partner with sourcing, demand planning, and product teams
- Align production capabilities with business needs
- Ensure clear communication across all stakeholders
Cost & Documentation
- Monitor landed cost accuracy and flag variances
- Maintain production documentation and inspection reports
- Ensure accuracy in factory-facing processes and SOPs
Qualifications
- 5–8 years of experience in production, manufacturing, or operations
- Background in apparel or consumer goods production preferred
- Direct experience working with factories and production cycles
- Familiarity with sampling processes (proto through TOP)
- Experience with AQL standards and quality frameworks
- Ability to manage multiple factories and 15 concurrent purchase orders
- Strong attention to detail and problem-solving skills
- Comfortable operating in a fast-paced, hands-on environment
Salary : $130,000 - $150,000
