Overview
Join our dedicated team as a Community Engagement DSI II, working full-time from Monday to Friday, 9am to 5pm. This vital role offers an engaging opportunity to support individuals with developmental disabilities and neurodevelopmental disorders, fostering community integration and enhancing quality of life. As a Community Engagement DSI II, you will serve as a compassionate advocate, providing direct support and facilitating meaningful activities that promote independence and social engagement. This position is ideal for energetic, caring individuals eager to make a positive impact in the lives of those with diverse needs.
Duties
- Assist individuals with intellectual and developmental disabilities in daily activities, including personal care and household tasks
- Support clients during community outings, appointments, and recreational activities using standard passenger cars or personal transportation assistance
- Implement behavior management strategies tailored to each individual's needs, especially for clients with autism or cognitive disabilities
- Communicate effectively with clients, families, and team members to ensure consistent care and support plans are followed
- Monitor client safety during activities and intervene appropriately using first aid and CPR skills when necessary
- Maintain detailed documentation of client progress, incidents, and service delivery in compliance with agency policies
Requirements
- Experience working with individuals with autism, neurodevelopmental disorders, or disabilities in home or community settings
- Knowledge of special education principles and behavior management techniques
- Ability to operate a standard passenger car safely and responsibly
- Familiarity with behavioral health concepts and supporting clients with cognitive disabilities
- Strong communication skills to effectively interact with clients, families, and team members
- Experience assisting with Activities of Daily Living (ADLs) such as grooming, dressing, and hygiene
- Certification in first aid and CPR required or willingness to obtain upon hire
- Prior experience supporting individuals with intellectual disabilities or in social services environments is highly desirable
