The care of children has seen many exciting advancements since the Pediatric Center first opened its doors. Many conditions are now diagnosed earlier, and treatments have improved significantly. We continue to expand our understanding of childhood growth and development and have implemented screenings that help identify developmental delays and disorders at earlier stages. In addition, the development of important vaccines has dramatically reduced the incidence of many childhood infectious diseases.
At the same time, delivering this care can sometimes be challenging. Insurance plans may limit choices for both patients and providers, and the increasing pace of daily life can make it difficult for families to visit the office when needed. The emergence of urgent care and retail-based clinics has helped address some of these challenges; however, we remain committed to providing cohesive, medical home–based care within our practice. Our goal is to ensure that you and your child experience continuity and consistency in your healthcare.
To better accommodate the needs of our patients and improve access to care, we offer 24/7 on-call support and Saturday morning clinic hours at our VCC office. We also recognize that many working parents need early appointments for sick children so they can still get to work and school on time. To help with this, we have implemented an Early Bird “Quick Sick” hour, along with expanded availability of same-day sick appointments. We hope these options make it easier for your child to be seen consistently at the Pediatric Center and strengthen the continuity of their care.
We also continue to leverage technology to improve access, communication, and the overall patient experience. As new tools become available, we look for thoughtful ways to incorporate them so families can more easily connect with our team and access the care and information they need.
While much has changed over the years, one thing remains constant: at the Pediatric Center, your child’s needs will always come first. We are a friendly and dynamic group with a wide range of backgrounds and experience, and we are honored to partner with you in supporting every aspect of your child’s health.
