Overview:

A Contract Fire Resources Worker provides critical support to wildfire suppression operations, resource logistics, and incident management activities. This role assists fire personnel, contractors, and agency staff by coordinating equipment, tracking resources, and ensuring smooth operational flow during emergency and non‑emergency assignments. Work is typically performed in dynamic, high‑pressure environments such as incident command posts, staging areas, and field locations

Responsibilities:

  • Work alongside lineman crews, acting as the initial point of contact to foster a positive working relationship with foremen.
  • Support setup and breakdown of incident facilities such as base camps, staging areas, and supply units.
  • Monitor equipment condition and report maintenance or replacement needs.
  • Serve as a point of contact for contractors, fire crews, and support personnel.
  • Relay operational updates and resource information to supervisors and field staff.
  • Support safety briefings, check ins, and accountability procedures
  • Perform general tasks such as lifting, carrying, and moving materials, tools, and equipment both indoors and outdoors, often in extreme conditions.
  • Assist in the maintenance and cleanliness of the worksite, including sweeping, mopping, and disposing of waste materials.
  • Operate basic hand and power tools, as well as other machinery, following safety guidelines and procedures.
  • Perform routine maintenance and repairs on equipment and machinery as directed by the supervisor.
  • Assist in the assembly, packaging, and labeling of products as per specifications.
  • Follow instructions and blueprints to complete assigned tasks accurately and efficiently.
  • Attend regular meetings and training sessions to improve knowledge and productivity.
  • Ensure compliance with safety protocols and regulations, reporting any potential hazards or incidents to the supervisor immediately.
  • Operate and properly maintain fire service machinery to include chainsaws, pole saws, and other brush clearing equipment

Required Skills/Abilities:

  • Ability to read and understand simple instructions, blueprints, and safety guidelines.
  • Basic knowledge of hand and power tools, as well as machinery used in general labor tasks.
  • Physical ability to lift heavy objects, bend, stoop, and stand for extended periods.
  • Excellent manual dexterity and hand-eye coordination.
  • Ability to operate a light duty truck and water tender preferred.
  • Strong attention to detail and ability to follow instructions accurately.
  • Excellent communication skills and ability to work well within a team.
  • Flexibility to work in varying weather conditions and different work environments.
  • Willingness to learn and develop new skills.
  • Valid driver license required.
  • Minimum age requirement of 23 years.

Education & Experience:

  • High school diploma or equivalent.
  • Previous experience in a general labor role is preferred but not required.
  • Fire experience and certifications for ICS-100, L-180, S-130, S-131, S-190, and IS-700

Physical Requirements & Work Schedule:

  • Standing and walking for extended periods during field operations and team coordination
  • Lifting and carrying equipment or materials, potentially up to 50 pounds, especially during fleet deployment or training sessions
  • Climbing, crouching, or kneeling when inspecting field conditions or equipment
  • Driving company vehicles, requiring valid licensure and safe motor skills
  • Operating communication and task management tools, involving keyboarding and fine motor manipulation.
  • May require overtime work on weekends or holidays
  • May require travel for emergency calls.
  • Part-time, temporary position.

Salary : $30 - $32
