Quality Control Inspector

Role Purpose
the QC Inspector acts as one of the primary inspectors for all products produced in manufacturing. Utilizing a wide variety of measurement systems and equipment, the individual will be responsible for verifying product manufactured at all levels of production is produced to specifications. The QC Inspector will also assist in inspection of electroforming tools, electroformed substrates, vacuum deposited films on substrates, incoming material inspection, first article inspections, MRB processing, and other various operations.
Scope & Responsibilities
Key Responsibilities:
- Review daily production schedule and operation sheets to determine daily inspection requirements.
- Communicate problematic findings with QA Manager and Production/Engineering management.
- Complete required quality control documentation including but not limited to: mechanical inspection reports, material disposition reports, corrective action reports, incoming material inspection reports, first article inspection reports. May also create special reports based on collection and interpretation of data, indicating possible trends and/or problems on the manufacturing floor.
- Perform simple and advanced mechanical measurements and calculations to certify material acceptance.
- Perform inspection on finished goods, customer returns, incoming materials, incoming tooling, and in-house fabrication materials.
- Performs visual inspection of coated substrates.
- Coordinate with internal departments affected or influenced by variance in materials inspected.
- Adhere to shift schedule.
- Other duties as assigned.
Eduacation and Qualifications:
- Solid and verifiably successful experience in mechanical quality inspection process.
- Minimum 5 years relevant QC experience.
- Advanced knowledge of blueprint reading, including tolerance analysis.
- Knowledge of precision measurement systems such as CMM, stereoscope/optical measurement systems a plus.
- Ability to read and interpret documents such as engineering drawings, safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, and procedure manuals.
- Ability to verbally articulate findings or opinions effectively with groups or individuals within the organization.
- Possess intermediate computer skills and understanding of Microsoft Office software, especially in Excel, Outlook, and web-based searches.
- Excellent organization and communication skills.
- High school diploma or equivalent.
Physical Requirements
- Work Frequently requires to sit, stand, talk, and hear.
- Frequently required to use hands to finger, handle, feel, and grasp.
- Frequently required to use sight to visually inspect and measure.
- Occasional bending, kneeling, crawling, and reaching above and below shoulder level.
- Occasionally required to lift and/or move up to 30 lbs.
- Occasionally required to handle/move chemicals in sealed containers.
Work Environment:
- Work environment is typical for a laboratory with occasional visits to manufacturing areas.
- Work in manufacturing areas may require the use of personal protective equipment including but not limited to safety goggles, hearing protection, gloves, respirators, protective clothing and protective footwear.
- The noise level in the work environment is usually moderate.
