The Production Manager leads all aspects of manufacturing operations from Material Issue through shipping. The Production Manager ensures alignment with strategic goals for safety, quality, delivery, employee engagement and cost. This role is accountable for production planning, scheduling resource optimization, and cross-functional coordination—especially within the Sales & Operations Planning (S&OP) framework. The Production Manager drives operational excellence through Lean methodologies and fosters a culture of continuous improvement and high performance.

Key Responsibilities

Quality Leadership

  • Champion quality assurance across all production areas, ensuring compliance with internal standards and external regulations.
  • Lead cross-functional initiatives to reduce defects, improve first-pass yield and, on-time delivery.
  • Collaborate with Engineering, Quality, and Supply Chain to implement robust process controls and preventive systems.

Production Planning & Scheduling

  • Oversee the development and execution of the production schedule aligned with demand and capacity constraints.
  • Balance labor, equipment, and material resources to meet delivery targets while minimizing waste and downtime.
  • Monitor production performance and adjust plans proactively to maintain flow and responsiveness.

Sales & Operations Planning (S&OP)

  • Serve as a key contributor to the S&OP process, translating demand plans into executable production strategies.
  • Provide insights on capacity, lead times, and constraints to support accurate forecasting and scenario planning.
  • Align production goals with business objectives, inventory strategies, and customer commitments.

Workforce Development & Leadership

  • Lead, coach, and develop production leads and frontline teams to build capability and engagement.
  • Establish clear performance expectations and support career development through structured feedback (performance reviews) and training.
  • Promote a safe, inclusive, and collaborative work environment that reflects company values of “done right the first time”, “safety first”, and Lean culture.

Operational Excellence & Continuous Improvement

  • Drive Lean transformation initiatives, including standard work, visual management, and waste elimination.
  • Lead kaizen events and cross-functional improvement projects to enhance productivity and reduce cost.
  • Track and report KPIs across safety, quality, delivery, and cost, using data to inform decisions and drive accountability.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in operations management, Engineering, or related field (preferred). Experience in lieu of degree may be considered.
  • 3 years of experience in manufacturing leadership roles
  • 5 years of experience in a manufacturing setting.
  • Proficiency in ERP/MRP systems and advanced planning tools
  • Experience migrating or implementing ERP/MRP systems in a plus.
  • Certification in Lean, Six Sigma, or similar methodologies (preferred)
  • Experience participating in or leading S&OP processes
