Premier restoration shop seeks a full-time Panel Fabricator to restore, repair, and custom-fabricate vehicle body components. Working in a team of experienced metal fabricators, you will use specialized metalworking techniques to include cutting, shaping, and welding steel or aluminum to precise specifications, removing rust, and aligning body panels, ensuring show-quality finishes on classic vehicles.
Key Responsibilities
- Panel Fabrication & Repair: Fabricate, repair, and replace damaged body panels, including fenders, doors, and floor pans.
- Metal Shaping: Utilize English wheels, planishing hammers, brake presses, and hand tools to shape sheet metal components.
- Welding & Assembly: Use TIG/MIG welding for structural integrity and seamless joints.
- Rust Removal & Restoration: Cut out rusted metal, and fabricate patch panels to restore structural integrity.
- Alignment & Finishing: Achieve precise panel gaps, alignment, and "show-quality" fitment.
Required Skills & Qualifications
- Experience: Minimum of 5 years in automotive metal restoration and custom fabrication.
- Technical Skills: Proficient in metal shaping, TIG/MIG welding, and metal finishing (grinding, soldering).
- Knowledge: Deep understanding of classic car construction and automotive materials.
- Attention to Detail: Ability to produce high-end, detailed, and accurate work.
- Physical Demands: Ability to lift up to 50 lbs, stoop, kneel, and work in standing positions for extended periods.
- Education: High school diploma or equivalent; vocational training in welding or metal fabrication is often preferred.
Pay: $35.00 - $38.00 per hour
