Summer Camp Counselor

The Packer Collegiate Institute is seeking energetic, kind, student-centered counselors to work in the Packer Summer Camp program from June 13-July 22, 2022.

Essential Functions

• Work with a co-counselor to provide constant supervision of a group of 10-12 campers;

• Memorize, follow, and enforce all safety guidelines and emergency procedures associated with the camp program;

• Participate in daily staff meetings;

• Work with the camp nurse to closely monitor camper medical conditions;

• Maintain the daily camp schedule;

• Mediate camper disputes;

• Report details of incidents, such as accidents or rule violations, to a head counselor;

• Transport campers to and from the St. Francis College pool each morning;

• Actively participate in swimming lessons (including getting into the water daily);

• Assist instructors during various activities (e.g. arts and crafts, sports, etc.);

• Monitor lunch and ensure that campers with food allergies are kept safe;

• Clean, maintain, and ensure proper use of camp facilities and equipment;

• Perform minor first aid as needed;

• Take all necessary and reasonable precautions to protect students, equipment, materials, and facilities;

• Report all student injuries, accidents, and illnesses as soon as possible;

• Participate in and maintain order during periodic fire safety drills;

• Provide additional support as needed.

Qualifications

• At least 14-years-old and a rising 10th grade student;

• Availability to work all 6 weeks of the camp season;

• Past experience as camp counselor or in similar role working with children (preferred);

• CPR and First Aid certification (preferred).

License/Certification:
