Adult Day Program Assistant

POSITION SUMMARY:

The Program Assistant is responsible for the special service and care required for each Program member. Assist with member care and program/activity needs while providing a positive physical, nutritional and social environment for members, ensuring they feel safe and purposeful.

POSITION DUTIES/ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:

• Create, organize, and facilitate therapeutic and purposeful, engaging activities allowing for relaxation, exercise, and socialization
• Motivate and encourage members to become involved in activities
• Initiate and lead small group, large group and one to one activities with members
• Ensure that supplies for all activities are readily available and activities are set up for members
• Provide medication, meals, and toileting reminders for members as needed
• Assist with "household chores" and encourage participation of interested members
• Ensure that all rules, regulations and safety practices are properly executed
• Provide emotional support to members and family caregivers
• Report any change in member’s health or condition
• Demonstrate honesty, integrity, respect, and compassion in every interaction with members, peers and family caregivers
• Demonstrate a passion for caring as evidenced by interactions with co-workers, members, families, and visitors
• Maintain the confidentiality of all member and family information
  
  
  

POSITION REQUIREMENTS:

• Minimum of a High School diploma or equivalent
• Minimum of a CNA certification or HHA certification current and in good standing in the State of Massachusetts
• Successful completion of on-the-job training, rendering competency in performance of required duties
• Possesses current First Aid, and Heimlich certification, if required by state regulations
