Job Summary:
The Outing Club Summer Camp Director is responsible for the overall leadership, management, and execution of our eight-week youth summer camp. This role involves overseeing all aspects of camp operations, ensuring a safe and enriching environment for campers and staff alike. The Camp Director will be responsible for staff supervision, program development, policy implementation, parent communication, and daily camp logistics. The ideal candidate is an experienced leader with strong organizational, problem-solving, and interpersonal skills.
Camp Dates: June 29 - August 7 Days: Monday - Friday Hours: 8:00 AM - 5:00 PM
Pre-Camp Planning & Training:
- May & June 2026
Qualifications:
- Bachelor's degree in recreation, education, youth development, or a related field (preferred).
- NH Child Care Site Director Certification (or willingness to obtain).
- Minimum 2-3 years of experience in a camp leadership or youth program management role.
- Strong leadership, staff management, and team-building experience.
- Excellent organizational, time management, and multitasking skills.
- Knowledge of child development, youth programming, and recreational activities.
- CPR/First Aid certification (or ability to obtain before employment).
- Ability to pass a background check and meet all required screening standards.
- Strong conflict resolution, communication, and problem-solving skills.
- Ability to work in a fast-paced, dynamic environment with enthusiasm and professionalism.
- Willingness to work flexible hours, including occasional evenings or weekends for special events.
Key Responsibilities:
- Leadership & Supervision: Oversee all camp operations, ensuring a safe, inclusive, and fun experience for campers and staff.
- Staff Management: Recruit, train, supervise, and evaluate camp counselors, assistant directors, and support staff.
- Program Development: Plan, organize, and implement a variety of engaging camp programs and activities aligned with camp goals.
- Safety & Compliance: Enforce all safety procedures, emergency protocols, and behavioral management strategies.
- Parent & Community Relations: Serve as the primary point of contact for parents/guardians, addressing concerns, providing updates, and fostering positive relationships.
- Logistics & Operations: Manage camp schedules, transportation, food service, equipment, and facility coordination.
- Budget & Resources: Work within a set budget to allocate funds efficiently for staffing, programming, and supplies.
- Evaluation & Improvement: Continuously assess camp operations, programs, and staff performance to identify areas for improvement.
- Crisis & Conflict Management: Handle emergency situations, behavioral issues, and staff concerns effectively.
- Collaboration: Work closely with the Executive Director and other stakeholders to ensure a successful summer season.
