Position Summary

The Outing Club Village is seeking an energetic, dependable, and caring Group Leader to join our Before and After School Program. Group Leaders create a safe, engaging, and inclusive environment where children can learn, explore, build friendships, and have fun outside of the school day.

Working under the supervision of the Site Director, Group Leaders are responsible for providing active supervision, leading recreational and educational activities, ensuring children's health and safety, and serving as positive role models while following all Outing Club Village policies and New Hampshire Child Care Licensing Regulations.

Job Type: Part-time

Salary: $15-$20 per hour, wage determination based on experience with youth and education level

Schedule: Monday - Friday, 7:00-8:30 AM and 2:30-5:30 PM

Responsibilities

Child Supervision & Safety

● Maintain active supervision of children at all times in accordance with New Hampshire Child

Care Licensing Regulations, including following all emergency, evacuation, health, safety, and

injury procedures.

● Creative and flexible in planning activities.

● Commitment to upholding an inclusive, respectful, and safe environment for all children.

● Ensure required staff-to-child ratios are maintained.

● Supervise children during indoor activities, outdoor play, field trips, transitions, snack time, etc.

● Be familiar with children's allergies, medications, and emergency care plans.

● Report illnesses or health concerns promptly to the Site Director.

● Administer basic first aid within certification level and immediately report injuries or incidents to the Site Director.

Program Activities

● Plan and lead engaging, age-appropriate activities including: arts and crafts, STEM projects,

sports and recreation, outdoor games, team building activities, homework support, clubs, and

special events.

● Encourage creativity, teamwork, independence, and problem-solving.

● Participate actively with children instead of supervising from the sidelines.

● Modify activities to meet the developmental needs and interests of participants.

● Help maintain a fun and welcoming environment for every child.

Positive Child Guidance

● Use positive guidance techniques that promote respect, responsibility, and problem-solving.

● Build positive relationships while maintaining appropriate professional boundaries.

● Respond appropriately to children's individual emotional, physical, and developmental needs.

● Model respectful communication, kindness, responsibility, and inclusion.

● Support children in resolving conflicts using clear communication and redirection.

Family Communication

● Greet children and families during arrival and dismissal.

● Communicate professionally with parents and guardians regarding daily activities and general program information.

● Refer behavioral concerns, injuries, confidential matters, or parent complaints to the Site Director.

● Maintain confidentiality regarding children, families, and staff.

Team Responsibilities

● Work cooperatively with fellow staff and Site Director.

● Assist with daily setup, cleanup, and organization of program spaces.

● Help maintain supplies, equipment, and activity materials.

● Attend required staff meetings and trainings.

● Complete attendance records, incident reports, and other documentation as assigned.

Qualifications and Personal Characteristics

Required

● Must be at least 20 years of age

● High school diploma or equivalent (GED)

● Ability to work effectively and with enthusiasm with school-age children

● Dependable, punctual, and professional

● Strong communication, teamwork, and leadership skills

● Follow all Outing Club Village policies and procedures.

● Comply with all applicable New Hampshire Child Care Licensing Rules.

● Complete all required trainings, background checks, fingerprinting, and professional

development.

● Report suspected child abuse or neglect in accordance with New Hampshire mandatory reporting laws.

● Maintain confidentiality regarding children, families, and program operations.

● Ability to pass all required New Hampshire criminal background checks, fingerprinting, and child abuse registry checks

Preferred

● One (1) year of experience working in childcare, education, recreation, camps, or youth programs

● First Aid & CPR Certification (otherwise will be required to obtain upon hire)

● Coursework or experience in education, child development, recreation, psychology, or a related field

Ability to commute/relocate:

  • Sunapee, NH 03782: Reliably commute or planning to relocate before starting work (Required)
  • New London, NH 03257: Reliably commute or planning to relocate before starting work (Required)
  • Grantham, NH 03753: Reliably commute or planning to relocate before starting work (Required)

Physical Requirements

● Frequently stand, walk, bend, kneel, and lift up to 40 pounds.

● Actively participate in indoor and outdoor activities in varying weather conditions.

● Participate in active games, sports, and outdoor recreation.

● Respond quickly to emergencies and actively supervise children throughout the program.
