Are you compassionate, dependable, and passionate about helping older adults live with dignity, comfort, and independence?

The Pepperberry Suites is looking for a caring and dedicated Care Aide to join our team. If you enjoy building meaningful relationships with residents and take pride in providing compassionate, person-centered care, we want you to be part of The Orchards team!

For over seventy years, The Orchards have continued the traditional values inspired by the Fox Family: respect for one another, concern for each resident’s well-being, and encouragement of individual interests and enjoyment of life’s pleasures. These values are a gift The Orchards staff members share every day with residents and each other.

As a Care Aide, you will play an important role in supporting the daily needs and overall well-being of residents at The Pepperberry Suites. Under the direction of the Care Supervisor and nursing leadership, you’ll provide personal care, promote independence, monitor resident needs, and help create a safe, respectful, and engaging living environment.

What You’ll Do

  • Provide compassionate, person-centered assistance with activities of daily living, including bathing, dressing, grooming, toileting, mobility, and restorative care.
  • Assist residents with personal hygiene and comfort needs while promoting dignity, privacy, and independence.
  • Obtain and document vital signs and other assigned resident observations.
  • Conduct routine safety rounds throughout resident rooms and common areas.
  • Observe residents for changes in physical, emotional, behavioral, or mental condition and promptly report concerns to the Care Supervisor or appropriate nursing staff.
  • Provide restorative care and support according to individual resident needs, physician orders, and established care plans.
  • Assist residents with mobility, transfers, positioning, and the safe use of adaptive equipment.
  • Prepare and serve meals, snacks, supplemental foods, and substitute meal items according to resident preferences and dietary requirements.
  • Help maintain a clean, safe, comfortable, and welcoming environment for residents.
  • Maintain accurate and timely documentation of resident care, services provided, and changes in condition.
  • Maintain ongoing communication with the Care Supervisor regarding resident needs and concerns.
  • Participate in resident care meetings, utilization reviews, quality improvement activities, and other required meetings.
  • Protect resident rights, privacy, confidentiality, dignity, and independence.
  • Immediately report concerns involving abuse, neglect, exploitation, accidents, injuries, or unsafe conditions according to facility policy.
  • Participate in required training, in-services, meetings, and continuing education.
  • Perform other duties as assigned to support quality resident care and services.

What We’re Looking For

  • High school diploma or equivalent preferred.
  • Previous experience working with older adults, assisted living residents, or individuals requiring personal care assistance preferred.
  • Experience caring for residents with dementia, Alzheimer’s disease, or other specialized needs preferred.
  • Completion of required state-mandated training and facility in-services.
  • Current CPR and First Aid certification preferred or obtained within the required timeframe.
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Compassionate, patient, respectful, and dependable approach to resident care.
  • Ability to recognize and appropriately respond to resident needs and changes in condition.
  • Ability to interpret verbal and non-verbal communication, including body language and facial expressions.
  • Ability to follow individualized care plans and written or verbal instructions.
  • Ability to maintain resident confidentiality and privacy.
  • Ability to remain calm and professional during emergency situations.
  • Ability to work independently while collaborating effectively with the care team.
  • Ability to prioritize responsibilities and manage multiple tasks throughout the shift.
  • Basic computer skills and ability to use electronic documentation systems.
