Overview
We are seeking a dedicated and compassionate Medication Technician to join our team in providing exceptional care to residents in an assisted living environment. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in patient care, medication administration, and an understanding of the unique needs of individuals with developmental disabilities. This role is essential in ensuring that residents receive their medications safely and effectively while promoting their overall well-being.
Duties
- Administer medications to residents as prescribed, ensuring accuracy and compliance with safety protocols.
- Maintain detailed medical records using Cerner or similar electronic health record systems.
- Monitor residents for any side effects or adverse reactions to medications and report findings to nursing staff.
- Assist in the development and implementation of individualized care plans for residents, focusing on their specific needs and preferences.
- Provide support in memory care activities, fostering a nurturing environment for residents with cognitive challenges.
- Collaborate with nurses and other healthcare professionals to ensure comprehensive patient care.
- Educate residents and their families about medication management and health-related topics.
- Maintain a clean and organized medication administration area, adhering to all safety regulations.
Requirements
- Previous experience working with individuals with developmental disabilities is preferred.
- Knowledge of anatomy and physiology, particularly related to medication effects on the body.
- Strong understanding of patient care principles and best practices in assisted living settings.
- Familiarity with medical records management systems, particularly Cerner.
- Excellent communication skills, both verbal and written, to effectively interact with residents, families, and staff.
- Ability to work collaboratively within a team-oriented environment while demonstrating empathy and patience.
- Certification as a Medication Technician or equivalent training is required.
Job Types: Full-time, Part-time
Pay: $16.14 - $17.50 per hour
