Job Summary:
The Old Dominion Group (ODG) is seeking a Procurement Assistant to support key operational areas, including Procurement, Purchasing, Warehousing, Logistics, and more.
This role offers hands-on experience within a large, nationwide specialty construction company that delivers a wide range of contracting services. The selected candidate will gain valuable insight into day-to-day operations while building practical skills in a fast-paced environment.
The ideal candidate will possess strong organizational skills, quick data entry abilities, and a proactive mindset—always ready to assist and pivot as needed.
This is a temp-to-perm opportunity, designed to evaluate long-term fit. Individuals will have the chance to demonstrate their abilities and, upon successful performance, transition into a full-time position with ODG.

Qualifications
- Currently enrolled in an accredited college or university program (undergraduate preferred). Coursework in Supply Chain, Operations, Business, Logistics, or a related field is a plus.
- Comfortable learning to review basic supply chain documents such as purchase orders, packing slips, invoices, and shipping paperwork.
- Able to manage multiple tasks, stay organized, and follow through on due dates with guidance from the team.
- Clear written and verbal communication skills (email, chat, and basic documentation).
- Professional and courteous when working with teammates and, as needed, suppliers/carriers.
- Detail-oriented with a willingness to double-check data (part numbers, quantities, dates, and shipment details).
- Curious, dependable, and willing to ask questions; able to solve routine issues with support from the team.
- Basic proficiency with Microsoft Office (Excel, Word, and Outlook/Teams); comfortable learning new systems and templates.
- Interest in data and reporting tools (e.g., Power BI) is a plus.
- OSHA 10 certification is a plus (or ability to earn during internship).
Major Duties & Responsibilities
The duties and responsibilities are intended to describe the general nature and scope of work being performed by this position. This is not a complete listing, and other duties will be assigned based on the position’s role within the business unit.
- ODG’s Supply Chain (Procurement) Internship offers hands-on experience supporting day-to-day purchasing and logistics activities.
- Support real projects, collaborate with team members, and share results with leaders at the end of the internship.
- Complete OSHA 10 certification (as assigned).
- Promote a safe work environment by following Environmental, Health & Safety (EHS) guidelines and participating in safety initiatives.
- Help organize and track Request for Quotes (RFQs), including sending RFQs to vendors and monitoring responses.
- Support simple process improvements (e.g., organizing files, updating trackers, and helping streamline routine workflows).
- Learn the end-to-end supply chain process (from purchase order through delivery/fulfillment) by supporting live orders.
- Assist with basic ERP system updates (e.g., entering data and helping keep inventory records current).
- Prepare rebate and pricing documentation for internal teams and help submit required information to vendors.
- Enter purchase orders and/or sales orders into the ERP system under team guidance.
- Help prepare pick tickets/packing documents and confirm pricing details for internal teams and customers.
- Build and update simple reports (primarily in Excel) to support purchasing, inventory, and order tracking.
- Communicate and follow up with internal stakeholders and external vendors to help keep orders and requests moving.
- Partner with teammates across Procurement, Logistics, Operations, and Sales to support customer and internal needs.
- Attend Procurement and Logistics meetings to learn team processes and capture notes/action items as needed.
- Provide general administrative support, including data entry, document organization, and maintaining supply chain trackers.
- Prepare and deliver a final presentation summarizing what you learned, your project work, and key outcomes.
