The Civil Rights Intake Coordinator in the Office of Civil Rights Compliance supports a centralized intake function for all complaints of protected class harassment and discrimination involving faculty, staff, and students on the Columbus campus, Wexner Medical Center, and 5 regional campuses. This position is responsible for the intake and initial response to reports of protected-class harassment and discrimination, including incidents of sexual misconduct. The Civil Rights Intake team coordinates reasonably available and appropriate supportive measures and referrals to resources on campus and in the community.

Key duties include providing intake, outreach, referral, and communication in response to concerns of protected-class discrimination or harassment; communicating with parties, witnesses, third-party reporters and other impacted individuals regarding campus and community resources; assisting individuals in understanding options for university investigation and reporting crimes to police; developing reasonably available and appropriate measures to support complainants and respondents; documenting intake and response in compliance with federal and state laws and university policies and procedures; tracking all measures and non-investigative remedies provided in response to concerns; developing and updating outreach materials; and connecting with the campus community to promote the mission of the office.

The Civil Rights Intake team works collaboratively with campus partners, including but not limited to: Student Life Student Conduct, Office of Human Resources, Department of Public Safety, Office of Legal Affairs, Athletics, and academic departments in the Office of Academic Affairs. Successful candidates are detail-oriented critical thinkers who can operate independently, treat individuals with compassion, care, and empathy, and demonstrate unwavering professionalism in all communications and interactions with students, faculty, staff, and third parties. Candidates should possess sound judgment and remain impartial throughout all aspects of interaction with parties, witnesses, and the university community.

Required Qualifications:

Bachelor's degree or equivalent experience. Two (2) years of relevant work experience working in the areas of civil rights compliance, student conduct, human resources, or a similar field. Knowledge of laws and regulations that pertain to students, faculty, and university staff, including Title IX, Clery Act, Title VI, Title VII, Section 504, the Americans with Disabilities Act, and other civil rights laws; ability to work effectively individually and as a member of a team; ability to maintain privacy and manage highly sensitive information; strong organizational skills and ability to prioritize; ability to present ideas clearly and effectively, both orally and in writing; ability to appropriately manage difficult and sensitive issues with compassion and professionalism; strong analytical and critical thinking skills.

Desired Qualifications:

Master's degree in counseling, social work, student affairs, higher education, law or related field or equivalent combination of education and experience; two to four (2-4) years of experience working in the areas of civil rights compliance, student conduct, human resources, or a similar field; experience with trauma-informed support services; conducting investigations or supporting individuals who have experienced sexual violence or civil rights issues; advancing compliance with government regulations that pertain to students, faculty and university staff, including Title IX, Clery Act, Title VI, Title VII, Section 504, ADA, and other civil rights laws and regulations.

The Target Hiring Range for this position is $55,700 to $72,700 per year.
