The Oakwood School seeks an energetic and dedicated teacher to serve as a 1st Grade Lead Teacher for the 2026-2027 school year. - Design and implement engaging instruction aligned with school standards, curriculum goals, and student needs.
- Create a positive and respectful classroom environment where students feel supported, challenged, and valued.
- Develop and deliver lessons that promote student engagement, foundational skill development, and academic growth.
- Utilize a variety of instructional strategies, including differentiation and small group instruction, to meet the needs of diverse learners.
- Incorporate developmentally appropriate practices that support the academic, social, and emotional growth of students.
- Integrate technology as a tool to enhance learning and support communication.
- Monitor student progress and adjust instructional strategies to support all learners.
- Maintain accurate and up-to-date student records and assessments.
- Establish clear expectations and routines that support a productive and well-managed classroom environment.
- Build strong relationships with students and families based on trust, communication, and respect.
- Collaborate with colleagues to support a cohesive and effective Lower School program.
- Participate in grade-level and division meetings, before and after-school duties, faculty meetings, Oakwood functions, clubs, athletic events, and other responsibilities as assigned.
- A minimum of a Bachelor’s degree in education or a related field.
- Prior teaching experience in Lower School grades is preferred.
- Reading certification or experience in early literacy instruction is preferred.
- Understanding of the social, emotional, and academic needs of Lower School students.
- The ability to differentiate instruction and create engaging learning opportunities for students with a wide range of abilities.
- A willingness to reflect on and refine teaching practices to support student growth.
- A desire to work in a diverse and inclusive school environment.
- A commitment to collaborate with colleagues and contribute positively to the school community.
- Strong interpersonal and communication skills when working with students, parents, and colleagues.
